There's a scene in one of the later hitchhiker's guide books where Arthur realizes he might inadvertantly cause the destruction of the universe.

Simply love Douglas Adams and some of his commentary on God and
religion. What you mention above almost has me wondering if this realization happened after he encounted Agrajag, the being that
Arthur Dent unwittingly and unknowingly killed time and time again.
he was a cool guy and i used to talk to him on his web forum. people were pretty nasty and demanding to him when he was sick. they didn't know he was sick, but still.

That is amazing that you got to talk to him. One thing I
like about the interwebs is how I've gotten to hear back
from game developers and musicians that I liked over the
years. Even a few likes from those people on things said.
So what were people being demanding about? Not liking how
their favorite book series he wrote was going, or demanding
more books to be written?
