Just FYI, the toxicity is just too much here so I'm going to remove it from my board. The amount of ignorant flame posts and obvious trolls is just something I personally need to walk away from.
For those on here who were cool, who were civil (well until reacting to certain folks but I can see the temptation... I certainly had that too), w know and talk to on other nets and boards, I'll see you guys over on those

absolutely no capability of existing in a space in which a tiny little divergence of opinions exist.
Then we act surprised when those same people don't want to deal with uncle Jack for having a different opinion or something.
The main issue I have with this phenomenom is that people who cannot coexist with others due to differences in ideology is bount to attempt to exterminate > their opposition as a matter of survival, since they cannot exist in places
in which different opinions than theirs exist.

I was talkng to my 90 year old aunt the other day, who's been very
involved
in politics her entire life. She started working for campaigns before she could vote, and was heavily involved in the movement to get the voting age lowered from 21 to 18, which led to the adoption of the 26th Amendment.
She agrees that it's never been THIS devisive. There have been small-ish, vocal groups in the past that held the "If you're not with us, you're against > > us" mentality, but never anything like what we have now.

I feel like things have gotten very divisive in the US since around
2000, when George W. Bush was elected. At the time, I remember there
being a lot of people upset that Al Gore won the popular vote but
George W. Bush won due to the electoral college.
