I suspect we've heard of the last of The Millionaire. :-(

I know. :/ As the years go by more and more handles get retired.

Others have already weighed in here, but I just want to express my sadness and certainty that The Millionaire is probably no longer with us.

I got casually back into BBS'ing here at Vertrauen a year or two ago, and The Millionaire was reaching out to me directly (which I suspect he did often). He shared that he had been in an assisted-living or nursing facility, and his health had taken a dramatic turn for the worse with no sense that he would improve. If anything, he expressed a profound sense of loneliness and abandonment from his own family.

I suspect that for people who were already adults and working professionals in the 1970s and 1980s when BBS'ing as a hobby took off, they are now in their 80s and 90s, if not older, and we'll continue to see the same sort of trickle of long goodbyes.

i had a girlfriend through bbses and a few bbs people i was friendly with for a short time. when the web took off everyone jumped off bbses.

i did have an experience where i showed this guy how to do doorgames and it really increased user activity. I killed 2 people in lord and he banned me.
he didn't realize that the game is about doing that and you get respawned.

That guy was 26yrs older and he was in a special area where he was a local call to 4+ areas which was huge back in the dialup days.

The entire fido archives (or a decent amount) are availble somewhere.

    I
was able to read through some older posts that way, might have some leads for you.

Thanks for that info... I'll look around.

dunno, what i've seen is a real mess. ozzmosis was great. but what i've seen of fidonet archives are a mess and i'd rather use them.

    if you are gay

If I had a pink shirt I would wear it and send you pics of me in it while Andrea kissed me. At the end of the day we'd all laugh and it would be a
    fun time.

I'll never tell my favorite color.

We know it is black, because it matches your heart.

well because back then in the 90s people didnt talk about how they were gay all day. now everyone is gay and you can't talk about being straight.

i dont talk period and dont want other people to talk about their orientation. i don't want to see it, i don't want to hear it.

Well you can, but you'll become a meme if someone takes your pic, AND the people you tell you are "just straight" will look at you with disgust in
    their eyes.

i dont talk period and dont want other people to talk about their orientation. i don't want to see it, i don't want to hear it.

This is how I feel. There are at least 1000 things wrong in the world
that are more important then your sexual orientation. How about we start worrying about some of those?
