This website is supporting the Newton City BBS, to provide everything you need for access to the Newton. This site does not require SSL so it should work on more limited systems. Not sure if the Newton itself can access it... Once you have a account there you can receive email to your account @bbs.newtoncity.org using POP3 and send mail using SMTP.

You can access our BBS by using telnet to telnet://bbs.newtoncity.org or adding bbs.newtoncity.org to your terminal emulator setup.
